GPS Chips: One example of a commercial promo

A few Summers ago, just over 100 Coke cans were embedded with a global positioning satellite receiver. If you found you had one of the GPS cans, you could claim the grand prizes..

The cans looked exactly like a regular Coke can, and was approximately the same weight. You would basically activate the chip be calling a specified phone number and then the "rescue teams", using the GPS tracker, would come deliver their prize.

Of course, the fact that they would have to carry their cans with them everywhere they went for up to three weeks wasn't lost on the marketing and promotional people at Coke. They were being tracked by the gps chip inside..

As a fun added aspect, anyone could watch the cans with embedded gps chips being tracked at a web site.

This promo shows that GPS chip technology can be a fun, useful, and effective way to market a product. The fact that GPS chips are so small, inexpensive, and lightweight allows them to be used in this way

Of course, GPS Chips will be used in even more widespread and "serious" ways than this marketing campaign. However, as Coke proved, the technology has matured to an amazing degree.

Look into GPS chip technology for your fun, practical, or serious use today. There are many ways it can be used, and with chips being so small and inexpensive, you can be as creative as you want.
